Choosing your suppliers is as important as choosing the very staff you work with.  The trouble is, whilst most businesses understand and carry out the commercial due diligence - the same is rarely said for a supplier's technical competences.  Yet it is our direct experience that a small supplier with the right technical staff can dramatically outperform a much larger organisation which has plenty of support people, but not enough senior staff to go around.  Just the kind of thing that won't show up on a company's balance sheet, but will show up in the execution of your project.

The trouble is, it's highly unlikely that you'll have the technical skills to ask the right questions - after all, that's the reason you're bringing this supplier on board in the first place!
